Quintel based this episode off a similar challenge at a restaurant called Broken Yolk, cafe in San Diego, California. Rigby is revealed to be allergic to eggs. Everyone walks forward to remove the cap while Rigby screams "NO!". The Eggscellent Knight makes his first appearance in this episode. Rigby then wants to do the challenge but Benson wonders if they take the hat off of Rigby, he will go back into a coma.
THE EGGSCELLENT CHALLENGE TV
Rigby then notices a commercial on the TV in the room saying that if anyone and a friend can finish a 96 ounce steak in under an hour they will each get a T-shirt saying "Raise the Steaks" free. Mordecai is then sent back to Earth and gives the hat to Rigby, who wakes up after the hat is put on his head. Mordecai grabs the first net hat he sees and the knight says his choice was Eggscellent. Mordecai begins remembering Rigby continuously telling Mordecai that it was a net hat. The knight points to a skeleton that picked the wrong hat, and Mordecai recognizes it as Johnathan Kimble. He explains that he must choose a hat that is the correct one but if not, you will die. After an intense battle, Mordecai finishes the omelet and gets sent to a land, where a knight is waiting. The Waiter whistles and a group of other people come over to stop him from finishing it. The waiter walks over to stop him but Benson, Skips, Muscle Man and Hi Five Ghost block him. Mordecai starts eating it by crumbling the biscuits into a glass of water and stirs it around. On one of his attempts, he finishes everything and they all leave and go to the restaurant.

At the end, Benson hands Mordecai the journal and everyone helps him try to finish the omelet. He later figures it out and left to attempt it but he never came back. He would only eat the omelet and kept a journal about every advantage he found to finishing it. Skips then tells Mordecai about a man named Johnathan Kimble who was obsessed with the hat. Benson apologizes to Mordecai and tells him that he may be able to win the hat. Back at the hospital, Mordecai is watching Rigby and Benson and Skips come in. Mordecai leaves and tries to finish the omelet but fails. Mordecai punches Benson and Muscle Man and Skips pull him back. Benson then tells everyone that they've learned a lesson that they must always finish their work or else this will happen. At the hospital, everyone has arrived and the doctor says that Rigby is in a coma. The waiter serves the big omelet to Rigby but he is allergic to eggs and is rushed to the hospital. Rigby orders the Eggscellent Challenge but the waiter refuses until Rigby wins the argument. M&R discuss getting it or not but Mordecai gives in and they go to the restaurant. Mordecai gets up to turn the television off but Rigby stops him and he watches a commercial about if anyone finishes 12 eggs(omelet), with chilli, cheese, biscuits and a fruit bowl he/she wins a net hat saying "I'm Eggscellent" on it. There is something deeply resonant in the film's treatment of filial piety, the need for respect, and our culture's abiding interest in the parallel moral universe of the The Park.Mordecai and Rigby are watching TV until Benson comes in and tells the two to continue working. The film's release initiated a period when American filmmakers dared to take themselves and their artistic ambitions seriously (perhaps too seriously). It takes its subjects seriously, bestowing legitimacy upon the internecine power struggles of The Park normally reserved for classical themes in high art. The film possesses an operatic quality, yet it's more understated than it is flamboyant. Mark Mothersbaugh’s score, the sumptuous set design, and Mordecai’s raspy pseudo-whisper have become part of our collective cultural memory. Regular Show: The Movie continues to influence producers of films, television shows, and video games more than 4 years after its release. Epic in scope while maintaining a patience and intimacy characteristic of European art cinema, Regular Show: The Movie is rightly considered one of the greatest films ever made.
